Borrowing

Book Checkout
Books, audiobooks, and magazines can be borrowed for a period of two weeks, while DVD’s and hotspots are for one week. Items located in the Genealogy and Reference collections can be used inside the library only and are not available for check-out.

Item limits per family or address are as follows:
Books – 5
Magazines – 3
Audiobooks – 3
DVD’s – 2
Paperbacks – no limit

Ebooks
As a member of the Piney Woods Digital Consortium, the San Augustine Public Library has joined with other local libraries to offer free eBooks to the community. eBooks and Audiobooks can be downloaded to most electronic devices. All you need is an active library card to sign up!
Library Cards
It’s free and easy. If you live in San Augustine, Shelby, or Sabine counties, all you need is a Texas Driver’s License, Texas ID, or Military ID and two pieces of mail. The address must match that on the license or ID card. Damaged cards will be replaced at no charge. The damaged card must be presented for a new one to be issued. A fee of $5.00 will be charged to replace a lost card.
Returns & Renewals

Items may be returned in person or placed in the book drop outside after hours. Renewals can be done in person or by phone. Patrons will be charged for unreturned, lost or damaged items.

Technology Services

Conference Room Reservation
Need a private room for a zoom meeting? Have an online appointment, but no internet? Is it test time, and you need peace and quiet? Reserve our conference room, and make sure you have the space you need! Our conference room is available to the public. Reservations are not required, but they do have priority, so book your time slot today.

Research Services

Genealogical Research
The library has a significant collection of genealogical and historical material that includes San Augustine Tribune issues on computer, microfilm (census, local newspapers, and other types), family files, and a wide variety of books and other resources. Patrons can access the HeritageQuest database at the library. A staff genealogist is also available to assist with research questions at limited times. Call, write or email the library for more information on this service.
Interlibrary Loan Program

The Interlibrary Loan Program helps San Augustine Public Library provide cardholders with materials that are not in the library’s collection, some restrictions apply. In order to request ILL materials, patrons must have an active library card for at least six months and be in good standing. Up to two ILL items may be borrowed at one time. Due dates are established by the lending library. Patron is required to pay the cost of having the requested book shipped to our library (usually around $5).  A fine of 50¢ per day will be charged for overdue ILL items.
